Witnessed a spur of what looked like smoke spewing out of the ridge today! I was driving to Yakima on Hwy 97 and I saw cloud if what I thought was smoke...I pulled up to my one of my regular spots to capture some footage. I vaguely saw any "smoke" but then realized it was a cloud of dust and realized from rock falls. I tell ya, it was a scary sight. Nonetheless, here are today's images!

Today was a good day! Ya see, last month I received an invitation to attend an event at my old college. I tell you, I was excited, humbled, and nervous at the same time. After a week of thinking about, I decided, Yes...I will answer the invitation. The event took place today and here are the images from this great event surrounded by local women with many talents in arts, science, tech, engineering, and math! I feel so thankful to be part of such an amazing event with women doing great things and empowering all to continue greatness. Speaker Erin Jones spoke of her challenges and life experiences and how she chose a life of greatness. I was reminded of my own life struggles and how I was a struggling young, single mother of two boys but I chose to be better. I chose to have an education, to have a career for a better future for my little family. Ten years later, I work full time as a Social Worker and my kids are grown and making a life as well. Thank you to my friend Anita Nez for coming with! Thanks to HU for such a great event and presentation; you remind me to do what makes me happy and to continue creating! Xoxo SILHOUETTE of Erin jones reading a poem.As I started my camera for my daily updates, little Tahirah of 6yrs old watched me intently. Her aunt, my friend Anta had given her her sketch book and crayons. After several takes, I was done and excited to have had such a great day and footage. That's when Tahirah showed us her work and to my amazement, she had drawn me near a fenced area using my tripod and camera! It is such great artwork and I was so amazed at her details and imagination. I then asked if she can draw how she saw the ridge and below is the end result! Since that day, Tahirah has been talking about documenting and videography! Anita tells me that she role plays me (tooting my own horn, I know) all the time!
Many thanks to be such an inspiration to a young child! |
