Last night I read from our local newspaper that Yakima City Council voted to remove a 30 year old Pit Bull ban! That's right, this is a huge deal for the breed and for the community members that love the pit bull breed. It was years that I'd visit the local humane society and would notice many pit bulls housed and it was difficult to even think about adopting one because of the city limit ban. That of course, will change and I'm sure we are all excited of this change. This may have been brought on by countless community members and the preservearance of our Yakima Humane Society threatening to close down and relocate outside of the county; they provide nonprofit services that the city could not take up on their own, see link August 7th article.
The ban is planned to be lifted by September 23, 2018. Today, I visited the humane society facility and counted the amount of pitbulls housed at this time and there's 25 out of 51 kennels-Today! This is huge and this is great news for the breed and the love of all dogs! I'm working on a video this week, stay posted!
