Last night I read from our local newspaper that Yakima City Council voted to remove a 30 year old Pit Bull ban! That's right, this is a huge deal for the breed and for the community members that love the pit bull breed. It was years that I'd visit the local humane society and would notice many pit bulls housed and it was difficult to even think about adopting one because of the city limit ban. That of course, will change and I'm sure we are all excited of this change. This may have been brought on by countless community members and the preservearance of our Yakima Humane Society threatening to close down and relocate outside of the county; they provide nonprofit services that the city could not take up on their own, see link August 7th article.
The ban is planned to be lifted by September 23, 2018. Today, I visited the humane society facility and counted the amount of pitbulls housed at this time and there's 25 out of 51 kennels-Today! This is huge and this is great news for the breed and the love of all dogs! I'm working on a video this week, stay posted! Here we are in near the end of Summer and we are experiencing massive amounts of smoke in the air. Here in Yakima the air quality has now reached Very Unhealthy and valley at Hazardous. I suffer from allergies and this smoke has me feeling headaches and some lightheaded. The smoke is coming from northerly winds from smoke from wildfires across northern parts of Washington state and southern British Columbia that has blown into the Columbia River basin and surrounding valleys. On Sunday, the air quality in Yakima was at Very Unhealthy and the lower valley was at Hazardous; according to Yakima Herald, reporting dangerously high levels of ultrafine "PM 2.5" particulate pollution. It is recommended that if you suffer with heart or lung disease, respiratory problems, diabetes or are the elderly, pregnant women, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion, and limit their time outdoors. Why? Smoke is made up of a complex mixture of gases and fine particles produced when wood burns. The biggest health threat from smoke is from fine particles, which can penetrate deep into your lungs and cause a range of health problems. Click here to read more Smoke can cause coughing, scratchy throat, irritated sinuses, shortness of breath, chest pain, headaches, stinging eyes, and runny nose. (Remember that when smoke levels are high, even healthy people can be affected). If you are experiencing difficulty breathing, chest pains or overall ill feelings, please see your health care provider right away. It is recommended to use a mask if outdoors; Mask that covers the the nose and mouth such as the N95. See image on right side. You can also call your clinic or local Fire Department for assistance. Come by and check out video of our smoky City of Yakima posted on my Youtube or follow this link EZ C Productions or click on link below. Thanks for visiting and watching! Good evening y'all, it'a been a long time and I apologize for the absence but as I mentioned on my last video, I had a death in the family. I received news that a sister of mine passed away at the age of 50 years old, she suffered with hypertension, chronic kidney disease, obesity, diabetes, and schloderma. I am still in a bit of shock. I traveled to Texas with my brothers and helped our sistser prepare the funeral and all of our late sisters' storage and apartment rentals. See, it was about 20yrs since we had last seen in person....about 3 months since we last talked on the phone, so yes, I feel it is a grave mistake that we waited too long to see each other. As we dined and drank with siblings and long lost cousins, we promised that we would not make the same mistake. We promised to travel and visit one another every year. Lesson to be learned...make the time, save that vacation and money to visit distanf family and loved ones at least once per year.
Nonetheless, I brought with me some of her belongings and now I listen to CDs that she was fond of... I know she still watches over all of us. Thanks to all of my viewers that gave their thoughts and prayers... xoxo |
